Guangxi Guiping strives to build an advanced shipbuilding manufacturing industry base.

It is understood that the shipbuilding industry in Guiping City has a history of more than 30 years. As a key shipbuilding base in Guangxi, the shipbuilding volume accounts for about 70% of the total in Guangxi. Currently, there are 23 registered shipbuilding and repair enterprises in Guiping City (10 of which are above designated size), with more than 600 shipbuilding berths and over 10,000 employees, mainly constructing steel general vessels with a deadweight tonnage of 3,000 to 6,000.

It is understood that the shipbuilding industry in Guiping City has a history of more than 30 years. Guiping Hongxin Shipbuilding Repair Co., Ltd. is the largest private shipbuilding enterprise in Guiping City, with more than 200 shipways, and has built over 100 vessels of more than 4,000 tons. The company's deputy general manager Huang Juncha said: "It takes about half a year to complete the construction of a ship. Last year, the company built more than 200 ships, with an output value of 2.53 billion yuan. This year, the shipbuilding volume is expected to exceed last year."
In recent years, Guiping City has accelerated the transformation and upgrading of the industry, focusing on building a ship repair and construction industrial system with excellent industrial structure, strong innovation capability, and good quality and efficiency, to support high-quality industrial development. Since 2021, Guiping City has focused on building the Xijiang (Guiping) Modern Shipbuilding Industrial Park, with the main line of cultivating and developing leading enterprises, aiming to enhance the basic capabilities of the industry and modernize the industrial chain, and focusing on the integration and enhancement of production factors, to create an advanced shipbuilding manufacturing industry base with regional international competitiveness, striving to become the leader in the inland shipbuilding industry in the southwest region.
The Xijiang (Guiping) Modern Shipbuilding Industrial Park is built according to the Class A industrial park standards of Guangxi, consisting of the Dawan area and the Mengxui area, where the Dawan area is the core area of the Guiping Shipbuilding Industrial Park, located along the river from Xinguicun to Yangtang Village in Dawan Town, Guiping City; the Mengxui area is located along the river from Liulan Village to Mianchong Village in Mengxui Town, Guiping City.
The total area of the construction project in the Dawan area of the Xijiang (Guiping) Modern Shipbuilding Industrial Park is 4,745 acres, divided into two phases (Phase I: 1,889 acres, Phase II: 2,856 acres), with a construction period of 42 months and a planned total investment of 8 billion yuan. The construction content includes one independent shipbuilding area in the shipbuilding construction zone, with 5 horizontal slipways, 5 outfitting docks, and 11 outfitting berths. The core area of living support plans to build a comprehensive service center, fire station, sewage treatment plant (Phase I), and total power station. After completion, it is expected to achieve an annual output value of 6 billion yuan and tax revenue of over 1 billion yuan.
"Advanced design, excellent product quality, have attracted a large number of shipowners from within and outside the region to order new ships. Last year, the output value of Guiping's designated ship enterprises reached 5.452 billion yuan, completing 469 ships," said Lu Huazhong, deputy director of the Guiping City Bureau of Industry and Information Technology and Commerce. Currently, Guiping City is continuing to vigorously promote the construction of the Xijiang (Guiping) Ship Repair and Construction Industrial Park, adhering to goal orientation, striving to introduce 4 new shipbuilding enterprises into the park, and aiming for more than 8 enterprises to settle in the shipbuilding park by 2023.
