The technical transformation and relocation project of Guiping Hongxin Shipbuilding Co., Ltd. was listed as a major project coordinated and promoted at the autonomous region level in November 2020, with a total investment of 1.5 billion yuan and a total land area of 600 acres.
The project is divided into two phases. The first phase plans to build a total of 135 ship berths with a capacity of 1,000 to 6,000 tons, with production supporting workshops, office buildings, etc., covering an area of about 30 acres, with an investment of 600 million yuan; the second phase plans to build a total of 95 ship berths with a capacity of 1,000 to 6,000 tons, with production supporting workshops covering an area of about 20 acres, with an investment of 900 million yuan.
The project started construction in July 2020. Currently, a total investment of 400 million yuan has been completed in the first phase, with 135 ship berths built and all put into use; workshops, supporting machinery and equipment, employee dormitories, main office building, auxiliary office building, living area, greening area, and other living supporting facilities have been completed and put into use; currently, 17 gantry cranes have been put into operation, with supporting workshops of 20,000 square meters and production equipment, and it is planned to add 20 gantry cranes and 30,000 square meters of supporting workshops next year.

According to Huang Yusheng, the person in charge of Guiping Hongxin Shipbuilding Company, Guiping Hongxin Shipbuilding Company is the largest private shipyard in the local area, with three factories located in Xunwang Township, Guiping City, the old site of Guiping Sugar Factory, and Liulan Village, Mengxu Town, totaling 285 ship berths.
"Guiping has become the largest shipbuilding base in the Liangguang region, with 18 shipbuilding enterprises and 739 ship berths. Among the 10 newly built ships in Guangxi, 7 are made in Guiping," said Huang Yusheng.
It is reported that Guiping's shipbuilding industry has a long history, forming a brand effect in the shipbuilding industry, attracting a large number of shipowners from both inside and outside the region to order new ships. The shipbuilding industry in Guiping has rapidly risen and has become a pillar industry of Guiping City. Currently, there are 23 registered shipbuilding enterprises in the city, of which 18 are shipbuilding enterprises, and 11 are large-scale enterprises.
Currently, the shipbuilding volume of general inland vessels in the city accounts for two-thirds of Guangxi, making it the largest shipbuilding base for inland vessels in Guangxi.
