Recently, reporters saw at Hongxin Shipbuilding and Repair Co., Ltd. in the Mengxui area of Guiping Modern Shipbuilding Industrial Park that 198 ships are under construction in the park, with sparks flying on the shipways and cranes rumbling, creating a busy scene. This modern private shipbuilding enterprise is a key shipbuilding enterprise in Guangxi.
Yang Guang, Assistant to the Chairman of Guiping Hongxin Shipyard: Our Hongxin Shipyard is divided into three areas, and this is the Mengxui area. The first phase of the Mengxui area has a total of 135 shipways, which are already fully booked, and the second phase is leveling the land. The sugar factory area also has more than thirty ships under construction, and the Southwest Luocun area has more than twenty ships. Our Hongxin Shipbuilding has already obtained CCS certification from the China Classification Society last year. Next, we will focus on building tourism ships and yachts to elevate Guiping's shipbuilding industry to a new level.
Guiping's shipbuilding industry has a history of more than 30 years, with the shipbuilding volume of inland general vessels accounting for about 70% of the region, making it a key shipbuilding manufacturing base in our area. Guiping currently has 23 registered shipbuilding and repairing enterprises, including 18 shipbuilding enterprises and 5 repairing enterprises, with about 700 shipways in total. In 2022, 468 new ships were built (including 35 new energy ships), with an output value of 5.43 billion yuan; more than 10,000 people are engaged in shipbuilding and repairing.
