Workers were operating on various shipways; some were welding, while others were transporting materials, working overtime to assemble cargo ships of various Specifications.
Recently, Xiao Xuan saw at Guiping Hongxin Shipbuilding Repair Co., Ltd. in Liulan Village, Mengxu Town, Guiping City, a bustling scene where many ships were being built simultaneously. Workers were operating on various shipways, some were welding, while others were transporting materials, working overtime to assemble cargo ships of various Specifications.
It is understood that the technical transformation and relocation project of Guiping Hongxin Shipbuilding Repair Co., Ltd. was listed as a major project coordinated and promoted at the autonomous region level in November 2020, with a total investment of 1.5 billion yuan and a total land area of 500 acres.
The project is divided into two phases. The first phase plans to build a total of 135 shipways with a capacity of 1,000-6,000 tons, with production supporting workshops, office buildings, and other facilities covering an area of about 30 acres, with an investment of 600 million yuan; the second phase plans to build a total of 95 shipways with a capacity of 1,000-6,000 tons, with production supporting workshops covering an area of about 20 acres, with an investment of 900 million yuan.
Currently, the first phase of the project has a total of 135 shipways, and the living supporting facilities such as workshops, supporting machinery and equipment, office buildings, living areas, and green areas have been completed. The second phase of the project is progressing in an orderly manner, and the site clearing work is currently underway.
According to the company's person in charge, Huang Junchao, in 2022, Hongxin Shipyard completed a total of 198 ships, with an annual output value of about 2.4 billion yuan, and currently has 109 ships under construction (orders).
Huang Junchao introduced that Guiping Hongxin Shipbuilding Repair Company is the largest private shipyard in the local area. The three factories established by the company are located in Xinan Village, Xunwang Township, Guiping City, the old site of Guiping Sugar Factory, and Liulan Village, Mengxu Town, with a total of 285 shipways. "In the next step, the company will focus on the construction of the second phase of the project, and the completion of the second phase will provide strong momentum for accelerating shipbuilding in Guiping City," said Huang Junchao.
In recent years, Guiping City has accelerated the construction of a modern shipbuilding industrial park, continuously strengthening and expanding the Guiping shipbuilding and repair industry. The Guiping shipbuilding and repair industry has a development history of more than 100 years. Currently, there are 23 registered shipbuilding and repair enterprises, including 18 ship manufacturing enterprises (11 of which are above designated size) and 5 ship repair enterprises, with more than 10,000 employees in the shipbuilding and repair industry.
With its unique geographical advantages and superb shipbuilding technology, the Guiping shipbuilding and repair industry continues to grow and expand. Currently, the shipbuilding volume of general inland vessels accounts for 2/3 of Guangxi, making it the largest shipbuilding and repair base in Guangxi's inland rivers.
